Information on Big Y’s Scholarship Program

Big Y® Foods, Inc. is considered one of the biggest owned supermarket chains located in Southern New England. A family operated corporation, Big Y presents excellence in the food industry for many years.

In tribute to its customers and its employees alike, Big Y provides a yearly scholarship program. Set in 1981, this program takes in series of scholarships that honor Big Y’s constitutors - the late Paul H. D’Amour and Gerald D’Amour, his brother. As well, there is a scholarship chain, which was initially financed by Big Y office workers to celebrate Big Y’s 50th Anniversary, one appreciating the contributions of brunch firefighters and law enforcement officers and a category, which admits the marvelous scarifies made by all the Military Service members together with their families.

All Big Y scholarships appreciate academic achievement and merit. They are prized to the most academically prominent students in the Big Y market field. There are prizes for both non-traditional and traditional students at the graduate and undergraduate levels. In order to be eligible, a student’s habitual residence or school should be placed within Central and Western Massachusetts, Massachusetts, Norfolk County, or the state of Connecticut (The employees are eligible not considering their residence).
